I wanted to be sure that my first image of 2019 was one that spoke to the direction of Klarite. "Carica Hollow" fits that bill beautifully. The image was created from some of the last remnants of 2018's growing season in my courtyard. Even I was surprised by what my camera helped me see for the first time by creating this photograph.
"Carica Hollow" is a struggle of lights and darks, promises of new life and possibilities that could have been yet were cut short.
During my time in art school there were always those dreaded 3 hour critique sessions during the photography classes. As soon as you walked in the room that day you would scramble to claim the "best" wall space. My criteria for the "best" space was determined by when I thought that part of the wall would be discussed. Did I want to just get the crit over with first thing, or drag on my torture...
